Scottish Premiership: Dundee FC secure hard-fought win over Kilmarnock

Dundee 1-0 Kilmarnock

McDaid grabs winner as Dens Park side end Kilmarnock's unbeaten run

Dundee FC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Dens Park on Sunday, putting an end to the Ayrshire side's 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Striker Zak McDaid grabbed the only goal of the game in the 15th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the Kilmarnock penalty area and firing home. The Dee held on to their lead throughout the match, with goalkeeper Adam Legzdins making several crucial saves to deny the visitors an equalizer.

The win moves Dundee up to seventh place in the Scottish Premiership table, while Kilmarnock remain in third place.

Dundee manager Gary Bowyer was delighted with his team's performance, saying: "I'm very pleased with the result. Kilmarnock are a very good side and they've been in great form, so to beat them is a great achievement for us.

"We worked hard all game and we defended very well. We also created some good chances and we could have scored more goals."

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes was disappointed with his team's performance, saying: "We're very disappointed with the result. We didn't play well enough and we didn't create enough chances.

"We'll need to improve our performance levels if we want to challenge for the title this season."
